And why shouldn&#8217;t they be? Surely he was at least as sound as our good friend Thomas Francis.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Edward Dutton<br \/>\n<em><strong>Shaman of the Radical Right:<\/strong><\/em><br \/>\n<em><strong>The Life and Mind of Jonathan Bowden<\/strong><\/em><br \/>\nWith a Foreword by Greg Johnson<br \/>\nPerth, W.A., Australia: Imperium Press, 2025<span id=\"more-177532\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>When Edward Dutton published this investigatory biography of Jonathan Bowden a few weeks ago, he promoted it with an amusing little fillip on his\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.jollyheretic.com\/p\/behind-the-scenes-of-jonathan-bowdens?utm_source=publication-search\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Substack<\/a>. At the start of a loose, impromptu podcast about his new book, Dutton gives us a vocal impersonation of Bowden himself\u2014speaking to us from beyond the grave, as it were. This \u201cBowden\u201d has just learned that someone\u2019s published a book about him, and it all sounds like an excellent idea. He hectors us to go buy this new book, because it\u2019s all about\u00a0<em>him<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Vocally the Dutton impersonation is not\u00a0<em>exactly<\/em>\u00a0like Bowden, to my ears anyway (register too high, voice too strangled-sounding), but it\u00a0<em>is<\/em>\u00a0funny, and does catch the cadence and improvisational panache of Bowden\u2019s speeches. For example, there\u2019s a wonderfully misplaced quote when he\u2019s plugging the book, very Bowdenesque: \u201cI think it was Benjamin Disraeli, Benjamin Disraeli\u2014 he was one o\u2019 them\u2014Benjamin Disraeli, he said, \u2018If a book is worth reading it\u2019s worth\u00a0<em>buying<\/em>!\u2019\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>READ THE WHOLE GODDAMNED THING!
